Beginners Knitting

What are the most important skills for beginners knitting? Here is a guide:

  • Casting On
  • Purling
  • Reading a Pattern
  • Recognizing and Fixing Mistakes
  • Understanding How to Buy Yarn

Beginners need clear, thorough, and SLOW video instruction so that they can see exactly what is being taught, without having to go back and watch the video, trying to see the instructions.

The 50 best videos for beginners knitting are perfectly done in KNITFreedom’s new video e-book, Intermediate Scarves and Stitches. Not only does Liat give great knitting scarf patterns for beginners, she also shows the beginning knitter all the essential skills in beautiful HD video.

Liat guarantees that you will love this e-book – just like all her video knitting e-books, this course is 100% money-back guaranteed. See the 50 best videos for beginners knitting here!

Learn Brioche Knitting from Liat!

I just wanted to let you know that the brand-new video knitting e-book is out from KNITFreedom: Brioche Knitting!

Brioche Knitting Video E-Book

Here’s what Sharon C of Bozeman, MT had to say about the new book:

“I learned how to knit brioche in the round in a class offered by my LYS back in March, but I hadn’t used the technique since then and I’d forgotten how to do any of it. KNITFreedom to the rescue: Beginner & Intermediate Brioche Knitting edition! I’m an auditory/kinesthetic learner — terrible at learning from diagrams and only marginally better when shown techniques by English/American-style knitters. Having Liat demonstrate both up close while describing the technique out loud made it a breeze for me to learn. (For read-write learners, the ebook also includes a lot of written instructions!)

Not having to sit opposite an instructor and flip the motions in my head while learning something new makes a huge, huge difference in my ability to pick up new skills and techniques. Thanks, Liat! :D

More knitting videos on KNITFreedom

Yay! KNITFreedom is blossoming into a very useful website! I’ve added the free video knitting dictionary to TONS of other intermediate knitting videos, so you can refer to them whenever you’re following along with a pattern and want to watch a knitting video!

I’ve just posted a free magic loop hat pattern, which calls for worsted-weight yarn and a 40-inch-long circular needle in size 7 – the same supplies you use when learning the Magic Loop in my class.

I hope you enjoy!

Pentafold Felted Moebius Bowl Pattern

The latest and greatest from LiatKnits is here! This full-color two-page PDF shows you how to create your own five-twist rimmed bowl. Go wild with color combinations! You’ll need at least a 47-inch long circular needle. PDF includes video link for Cat Bordhi’s Moebius Cast-on.

This pattern is available for download for $4.00: Click to buy now!

New! I made a video specifically to help with creating five twists in the moebius:

moebius-pick-up-sts1

Picking up stitches in the moebius brim works the same way as picking up and knitting anything else: you always insert the right needle tip under TWO loops of yarn (see the purple stitch above – the needle tip is inserted UNDER the whole “V” of the stitch. Wrap the working yarn around the needle just like you would when knitting normally, and pull the new loop through the stitch. Just pick up stitches in the I-cord rim, and when it’s time to pick up stitches across a fold, just work at an angle across to the other rim, inserting your right needle-tip under any TWO loops of yarn in a general diagonal line where the moebius wants to fold (as shown above).
